Saanal
Founder & President
Saanal has lived in 5 countries, and has been shaped by his diverse upbringing, and the friendships he has built along the way. Saanal founded Beyond Borders with the goal of cultivating a community of individuals and professionals who work across a range of industries and come from unique backgrounds around the world. Through this venture, he aims to grow global awareness of the opportunities and paths that exist, provide mentorship and guidance to students and fellow young professionals, and give back to the communities and institutions that have shaped him.
Saanal is an Investment Banking Associate at Moelis & Company in the firm’s Dubai office. Prior to this, he spent 3 years at the firm’s Los Angeles office. Saanal graduated from UCLA and during his time there, was deeply involved in the Bruin community through leadership positions in on-campus clubs, and participation in the Sharpe Fellows Program, a career development initiative providing mentorship to talented Bruins.
In his spare time, Saanal loves to wakesurf, is a passionate Manchester United fan, and enjoys travelling and immersing himself in cultures around the world.
Pranav
Board Member
Having lived in Southern India, Los Angeles, and New York, Pranav has had a diverse range of cultural and professional experiences.
He currently works in the Acquisitions & Capital Markets group at Vornado, a publicly traded REIT that owns, operates, and develops commercial real estate assets in New York. Prior to Vornado, he worked at Perella Weinberg Partners’ Los Angeles office, where he assisted senior investment bankers advising on Mergers & Acquisitions in the Industrials sector.
Pranav graduated from UCLA in 2021 with a Bachelor’s in Economics and a minor in Mathematics. He is passionate about giving back to the UCLA community and regularly volunteers as an interviewer for the Sharpe Fellows Program, a career development initiative that aims to guide talented Bruins with mentorship and a professional network. He enjoys learning about financial markets across a variety of asset classes.
In his free time, Pranav enjoys watching stand-up comedy, listening to audiobooks, and is a passionate fan of Formula 1 and EDM music.
Laura
Board Member
Laura is a UCLA graduate currently pursuing her J.D. at the University of Pennsylvania, Carey School of Law. Having grown up across France and Germany, with ethnic roots stretching to Brazil and Canada, Laura embodies a truly global perspective.
Fluent in five languages, Laura effortlessly bridges divides and fosters understanding, a skill set that extends seamlessly into her current legal pursuits. She is focused on immigration law, and has advocated for survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence at non-profits such as the International Rescue Committee and Immigration Center for Women and Children.
In her spare time, Laura enjoys listening to podcasts, traveling, and reading historical and narrative nonfiction.
Tanya
Board Member
Tanya has recently completed her undergraduate degree in Economics at Brown University. She has lived in four countries, which has played a large part in forming her multicultural perspectives.
On Brown’s campus, Tanya has been heavily involved in a variety of student organisations, holding leadership positions in the Brown Consulting Club, the table tennis club, the college chapter of Women in Business, and engagement in a refugee student tutoring organisation. Tanya has always been incredibly active in giving back to the community, and has found this pursuit to be immensely rewarding.
Tanya spent her last summer as a Summer Associate at Boston Consulting Group in the Atlanta office. She will be returning post graduation as a full time Generalist Associate to pursue an early career in management consulting.
Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Tanya enjoys long-distance running, travelling, and table tennis.
